Next, the architectural process in 2004! After almost exactly one year, and coming
basically full circle (meaning we ended up using virtually the same plans that he
(and Roxanne) had proposed. My second story house, with 4-car drive through
garage, was nixed after learning about the city's laborious approval process for
anyone adding a coded second floor. Sigh....
With permits in hand (and credit
cards strained by those damn fees),
we began to cut over the electrical
panel from the main house to the
guest house (or office). With a quick
inspection or two, we are ready to
begin demolition!
We've packed the house up and brought only some clothes, movies, games (and of course 4 computers) back into the office. Roxanne decided we should have some escape from the close confines of the four of us in a 450 sq ft (or so) enclosure, so she purchase a patio set for another getaway!

Now - the fun stuff! As Mr. John "Cougar" Mellencamp said - "When the Walls Come Tumbling Down"! First was the symbolic Patio Wall!
|
At some point, we had to graffiti the old house...we're such delinquents...
|
Now - On To the Actual Demolition!!!
While the plans called for us to re-use some of the walls, after inspection we found active termites
throughout the house! Yikes! Looks like we'll be incurring some additional lumber costs... I should
mention it took ONE day to wipe the house out....
Phase 1 - Demolition
First - we had to rip down portions of the fencing along the south wall.
Unfortunately, this meant the demise of our beloved grape vine. This took
place in the summer 2003.
